Russell Ward also deserves mention for his strong, riveting performance as the German money launderer Ernst Ludwig. Ward has a spot-on German accent and always seems true to his character. Pam Lampkin’s costumes are transformational, from the emcee’s long leather coat, boots and striped socks for the opening number to Sally’s feather boa, lacy pants and shimmering slip of a dress and long fur coat.  Most of the time, the Kit Kat girls wear skimpy panties, bras and little else (another reason not to bring the kiddies).

As the most exposed of all performing artists, dancers use their bodies to tell stories, mostly without the benefit or protection of mediating technologies and instruments, In a period ballet shoes 7.5 of heightened angst and dismay over the course of the country, the Bay Area dance scene is not shying away from difficult questions, Rather, the region’s deep and diverse terpsichorean community is rising to the occasion, The fall season is conspicuously engaged with politics writ large, as companies local and touring seek to make sense of the present moment..

Pandit Chitresh Das, an Indian classical dance master who was part of the Indian artistic community in Marin County that blossomed around the Ali Akbar College of Music in the 1970s, died unexpectedly Sunday in San Rafael. He was 70. The cause of death was acute aortic dissection, according to a statement from his Chitresh Das Dance Company. A rare disorder, it strikes about three in 10,000 people, usually older men. Pandit Das was stricken at his San Rafael home, where he lived with his wife and two daughters, and died at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Terra Linda. The dance company said he “did not suffer and was surrounded by family and loved ones.”.
