SHE’S GOT SJPD’S BACK: The San Jose Police Foundation hosted the San Jose Police Department’s Major Awards Ceremony at the Doubletree Hotel on Feb. 16, honoring officers who went well beyond the call of duty over the past year as well as community members who have shown extraordinary support for the department. One of those community members is Linda Lester, who has been a strong supporter of both the foundation and the awards event. A third-generation member of the Santa Clara Valley fruit-growing family, Lester said at the podium that she was so moved by the heroic stories of the San Jose police officers that she’d decided to increase her donation for next year from $30,000 to $50,000.
